The Quarrymen
In existence from 1956-59, The Quarrymen, headed by John Lennon later evolved to become The Beatles. The name was inspired by Quarry Bank Grammer School, which Lennon and most of the original members attended. McCartney joined the band in 1957 but it wasn’t until 1960 that the full line up as we know it was complete and they took on the name The Beatles.
